Mike Burton

Mike Burton started doing stand-up comedy in 1996 and moved up the ladder quickly; first performing in the clubs in New York City and then hitting the road. Today he’s getting known around the country as an act you don’t want to miss.

Mike’s been on several television shows, independent films, and been featured in commercials for HP, Modell’s, and others. He’s recently been the fill-in warm-up guy for daytime shows Rachel Ray and The Chew, and is now the regular warm-up for ABC’s The Revolution. His high-energy act, storytelling, and facial expressions endear him to audiences.

Mike grew up in North Carolina and Delaware, listening to George Carlin, Eddie Murphy, and Steven Wright. After college, he moved to New York with a Theatre Arts degree in hand. He was between off-off-off Broadway shows, waiting tables and bartending, when he discovered that restaurant owners are crazy, chefs are completely nuts, and he just couldn't take one more lady asking what's in a rum and Coke. He needed to perform.

He decided to stop talking about being a comic and actually do it. That night he paid $5 for five minutes of stage time — and he's been doing it ever since. Mike's traveled all over the country, and says "I met some fantastic people and made most of them laugh. This is the best job I've ever had — including the Gap."

Since landing back in New York, Mike's been in the music video Softly by Noelle Noelle, the independent film In 21 Days, and was also featured in the variety TV show The Fringe featuring up and coming comics and bands. He's been at film festivals all over the country as Frank, who turns into a werewolf, in the independent feature Four for Dinner a comedy-horror film from the award-winning director of The Risen, Scott Klein. And he appeared on an episode of Law and Order:SVU (perhaps you remember him as "Extra #187?"

As Mike recently pointed out, "People say I have the southern roots that make me hospitable, but enough New York in me to give me an edge!" Corporate audiences love the combination, and Mike's become a favorite of event planners coast-to-coast.
